FEATUREd EVENT
AU Veterinary canine performance sciences
On Thursday, October 1oth, Campus Club members spent the afternoon with Pam Raney, manager of Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine’s Canine Performance Sciences, Performance Research and Development. During the event, Pam shared the amazing research and training program for these adorable and highly intelligent four-legged friends. The work they do is best expressed in their mission statement: “The CPS mission is to innovate canine detection technology by exploring basic and applied research frontiers in olfaction, behavior, genetics, and physical performance.” Members were treated to a visit by “Sister Sally” one of the retired canines in the program. Members were absolutely amazed at what this program is doing to train these beautiful and highly intelligent dogs to keep us safe. “CPS dogs have saved lives at home and abroad. The preservation and advancement of CPS breeding and research programs depends on donors and supporters. Your generous donation will be used to raise canine heroes and to help fund the innovation of canine detection technology.” During the presentation, Campus Club’s past president, Sue Hooper joined Pam on stage to present her with a donation of $1000 to this outstanding program. After the hat was passed for members who asked to have the opportunity to donate, an additional $2500 was given to this amazing program. Want to learn more? Go to Canine Performance Sciences.

How can you help? The Alabama Veterinary Emergency Response Team - AVERT, provides disaster relief/emergency response for finding and helping all types of animals (including dogs and cats) left behind because of separation from their owners because of disaster or death during disaster. AVERT also rescues stranded horses and cows during emergencies like the one currently in western North Carolina. All the things that Samaritan’s purse or FEMA think about after the fact. Checks should be made out to AU Foundation. In the memo line, please write: AVERT - Auburn Campus Club. This will help us track the donations. You may send the check to Auburn Campus Club. P.O. Box 957, Auburn, AL 36831-0957.

“Alley Oop”
Alley Oop, our first program in a series of special events for the 2024-2025 year featured AU Basketball coaches, Steven Pearl and Chad Prewitt. The excitement for AU Basketball is already starting and these two coaches were a real treat!
Held at Moore’s Mill Club on a beautifully cool fall morning, the pavilion provided a toasty roaring fire in a beautiful stone fireplace; a delightful buffet lunch was enjoyed by all. Coaches Steven Pearl and Coach Chad Prewitt wasted no time or words as they answered a long list of questions posed by Club members and shared by Beverly Marshall. Many, many thanks to the coaches for taking so much time out of their incredibly busy schedule to devote to the Auburn Campus Club with their presence! This speaks volumes to their commitment and respect to the ladies of Campus Club. Also, many thanks go to all who worked to make this such a delightful event on such a chilly morning. Special thanks go to the event chairs, President Michelle Reed and Patti Lunday for all their hard work.
